About us

Established in 2010 by dedicated members of the community, the Ottawa Valley Islamic Centre (OVIC) stands as a beacon of pride and community engagement for Muslims throughout the upper Ottawa Valley. This vibrant and dynamic hub offers a plethora of activities catering to individuals from diverse backgrounds, fostering inclusivity and connection. Engaging actively with the Deep River community and collaborating with other faith establishments, OVIC participates fervently in local initiatives and events.

As the largest and sole Muslim faith center within a 200-kilometer radius of Ottawa, the capital of Canada, OVIC holds a pivotal role in our community's fabric. Serving over 60 families across the upper Ottawa valley, the center extends its reach beyond borders, providing a place of prayer and respite for thousands of Muslim travelers along Highway 17.

Committed to the ethos of service, OVIC members exemplify the spirit of giving back, continuously enriching the lives of those around them. Notably, the center has sponsored five Syrian Refugee families, totaling 40 individuals, with plans for further sponsorship in the future. Through such acts of compassion and outreach, OVIC remains steadfast in its mission to spread the principles of Islam while positively impacting the broader community.
